Theater Arlington is one of the largest community theaters in the nation, and Levitt Pavillion Arlington offers 50 free concerts per year. With the relocation of the U.S. Bowling Congress, and the Bowling Proprietors Association of America and the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame, Arlington became the world headquarters for bowling. The Arlington 4th of July Parade through Downtown, is a favorite community activity featuring floats and entries from local schools, businesses and organizations.
Those who enjoy a big city ambiance with a couple of even bigger cities on either side of it, find Arlington a good and convenient place to live with good affordability. Tourism trades and jobs at the General Motors Assembly Plant in Arlington attract residents, and the city’s proximity to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport is another plus. Arlington is covered by four different independent school districts (ISDs): Arlington, Mansfield, Grand Prairie, and Kennedale. There are 85 public schools and 21 private schools in the city, as well as 10 post secondary schools. This includes the University of Texas at Arlington, which is just west of Central Arlington.
